Cyanogen MOD 9
We have been working hard in CM9 since Google launched Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) in the wild last month, and things are beginning to merge. Google did a great job with the ICS and added some really awesome features that in some cases, replace or belittle the functionality I had in CM7, so we are reassessing all our customizations. A number of devices are already up and running with CM9, and attention is currently focused on getting as many devices as possible prepared . The first devices (besides the Nexus S, which can be obtained from the Section Manager Koush ROM) that we will be ready at all likely that OMAP4-based devices, and Exynos MSM8660/7X30. We also have some Tegra2 tablets in the pipeline, such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Asus transformer. Our goal is to provide ongoing support to all devices again CM7 QSD8250 series of devices like the Nexus One I do not make any promises at this time, but that's the plan. And I'm sorry Droid1 owners, loading support for you. The time to upgrade:)
There are a number of challenges we face. Google has made some pretty significant changes in the Android framework that break the compatibility with most camera owners and graphics drivers in order to achieve some pretty crazy results, but I'm sure the team will be able to overcome these problems we have in the past .
For those of you who like to build CM the source yourself, you probably know that the spin-up time when construction starts CM7 is absurdly long, due to the large number of devices in our repository. Koush Arcee and have developed a solution to this problem that adds the new devices to the letter to your local repository, saving bandwidth and time to start over. Some of the improvements come other great too, as a music application completely renovated, a new file manager, and a new launcher based on values 4.0.
If you have a Nexus S, you can see the code and create for yourself today. More devices are on the road, and I will send these status updates as more progress.
